11. THE CAT AND THE MICE. A Cat, no longer able to procure Mice to devour, hit upon a plan to tempt them from their holes in the ceilings. She suspended herself by the hind legs from a ring in the wall and pretended that she was dead. One of the Mice perceiving this, said, “Ah, madam, even though you turn into a barley-bag, we will not come near you." MORAL. The prudent cease to put confidence in those who have once deceived them.
